There was a defense of coercion. On February 4, 1974, 19-year-old  news reporter Patricia Hearst was unwillingly kidnapped by the SLA from her apartment and made to confirm to their ways.

Details

 Hearst had been determined to have severe trauma even before the arrest. Including gaps in her memory, depersonalization. Hearst, when she was kidnapped was brainwashed, raped, and isolated forced to see the goals and the aspirations of the S.L.A.

Childhood

She grew up in a wealthy enviroment, she was a prominet heir to her family. she used to be an art student before her kidnapping.​

Trial

Hearst was arrested for bank robbery and using a firearm to commit a felony. She argued she was forced to do it. However, she was sentenced seven years in prison. She ended up only doing two before she was commuted.

Patricia Hearst was a complex case, from kidnapping and brainwashing.  Symbionese Liberation Army held her captive at age 19. Eventually, she aided in their crimes. This raised the complexity of her actions. She was charged with bank robbery. Yet her sentence was commuted, and she was later pardoned.
